A first dictation has to be short: six to fourteen steps, big squares, a picture your child recognises at the end. Everything in this set is exactly that — one sitting, no fatigue, a finished drawing.
Start with the Flag and the Christmas Tree: they have the fewest turns. If your child counts confidently to five and never mixes up left and right, go straight to the House and the Boat.

Working with a preschooler
- Keep sessions under fifteen minutes — attention at this age does not last longer.
- For the first two or three sessions, read the step and point in the direction with your finger.
- Say it out loud: "one square to the right" — that is how the word attaches to the movement.
- Never fix a mistake silently: go back to the last crossed-off step together.
